Extending Your Reach: 1. Booster Activities

dB Zone!

The dB Zone! is a set of online interactive learning activities based on the Dangerous Decibels museum exhibit that used to be hosted at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in Portland, Oregon. The museum exhibit was the first in the world dedicated to reducing noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus. Over 5 million visitors interacted with the exhibit between June 2002 and May 2011 when it was closed. Several of the exhibits from the museum have been converted into computer activities.

You have already been introduced to one component of the dB Zone! entitled “What’s That Sound”. There are 7 more computer activities available for your use in the classroom, or as a take-home activity for the students. The dB Zone! is not a replacement for the Dangerous Decibels Program. The dB Zone! is recommended for use after delivery of the interactive program. Ideally, there would be some time that passes between the delivery of the program and the use of dB Zone!
